Message from the Chair
I’ve met and worked with many talented volunteers over my 20 years with the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame, and each year, although we face challenges, these talented Board members have made things happen. Last year’s 40th gala ceremony was a huge success not only thanks to these individuals, but also to you in the audience who have come out to support us tonight.
This year, we were able to move our successful inductee flag program to the parking lots at the 3 major Community Centres. We contracted a well-respected community company, with long-time community roots and involvement in the fabric of this city, to write our first Strategic Plan. Hopefully we will engage in a workshop to flesh out the details of the plan and to act on and implement the recommendations.
We have strengthened our relationship with our sponsors and donors, and in particular the City of Barrie Council and the Recreation & Culture Department. Our displays in the 3 major community centres – with over 2.5 million visitors passing through – have been well received. The Hall continues to reach out to community and service organizations and Tourism Barrie.
Next year, we will continue the growth as we build our foundation in the city and work towards the development of our new 5,000 sq ft home in the new South End Community Centre.
Stay tuned to our website and social media for more details. Thanks for your support!
