Barrie, ON – It was an exciting night for friends and family, as the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame finally revealed its Class of 2024 inductees at our Induction Ceremony Kick-Off event, hosted by the Queens Hotel, on Thursday, September 5th. This year’s class includes swimmer Emily MacTavish, rugby and basketball coach Steve Porter, ice-dance partners Mitch Islam and the late Alexandra Paul, and NHL referee Dan Marouelli. The late figure-skating coach Jo-Anne Eyers will also be honoured as the recipient of the John Crawley Local Lifetime Achievement Award, as well, the 2023 Simcoe County Rovers men’s soccer team will be recognized as an Honoured Team after winning the men’s Premier Division title in Ontario. The 2024 Induction Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, October 2nd, beginning at 7 p.m., at Allandale Recreation Centre. There is no cost to attend the ceremony, and the residents of Barrie are welcome to attend along with the friends and family of the inductees and award winners.
