These three Barrie athletes were automatically inducted into the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame for their participation on the Nexxice Synchronized Skating team. In 2007, the Nexxice team won the Canadian National Championships and won bronze at the World Championships. In 2008, Nexxice once again captured the Canadian Championship, qualifying them for the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary where they once again won bronze. In 2009 the team was again Canadian Champions and competed at the World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. Twenty-three teams from around the world participated in this event with the Nexxice team winning the gold medal. This was the first time a Canadian team won Gold In the history of the synchronized skating championships.

Taryn Milne

Taryn Milne was born in Brampton Ontario. She began skating at age four. She moved with her family to Barrie in 1990 and was affiliated with both the Barrie Figure Skating Club and the Mariposa School of Skating, coached by Greg and Judy Myles. Taryn began synchronized skating with the Barrie Royal Blades in 2003 and has been a member of Team Canada since that time. In 2004 Taryn joined Nexxice to pursue synchronized skating at the senior level. Taryn skated with the Nexxice team in both 2007 and 2008 taking home two World bronze medals. In 2009 Taryn was a member of the team that won gold at the World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.

Emily Penrose

Emily Penrose was born in Guelph Ontario and began skating at age three. Emily and her family moved to Barrie in 1994 where she skated with the Innisfil Figure Skating Club and the Mariposa School of Skating coached by Susan Emms and Lee Barkell. Emily began synchronized skating with the Barrie Royal Blades in 2001 and has been a member of Team Canada since that time. She joined a senior competitive team in York Region prior to joining Nexxice in 2007. Emily skated with the Nexxice team in both 2007 and 2008 taking home two World bronze medals. In 2009 Taryn was a member of the gold medal World Championship team in Zagreb, Croatia.

Nicole Rodgers

Nicole Rodgers was born in Barrie, Ontario and began figure skating at the age of 5. Growing up, Nicole skated with the Innisfil Figure Skating Club and the Mariposa School of Skating, coached by Susan Emms and Lee Barkell. She joined the Barrie Royal Blades Synchronized Skating Team in 1995 and soon after became a member of Team Canada, competing internationally at the junior level. While pursing her university education in Guelph, Ontario, Nicole joined the Nexxice team. Nicole skated with the Nexxice team in both 2007 and 2008 taking home two World bronze medals. In 2009, Nicole took 1 year off from skating to pursue her career in policing but returned to Nexxice in 2010 to again help them win the Canadian Championship.
