
the Officiant Trophy
For Outstanding Officiant of the Year
The winner of this award shall be presented with the BSHOF Officiant of the Year Trophy for outstanding service to the sport they officiate in. Nominees for this award must be an administrator or manager responsible for the rules and integrity of play of their sport within an organization based in Barrie. As well, the sport for which they administer the rules must be recognized by Ontario Sports Inc.’s list of provincial sports.
To be considered for this award, an officiant must be an amateur, as determined by the BSHOF. The nominee must also be or have been a resident of Barrie, although they may have performed their skills outside of Barrie. And, they must have served and contributed to their sport in an official role of administering rules for multiple years. There are no age restrictions, and the officiant must be human. The recipient of this award may only receive this award once in a lifetime.
The qualifications for this award are as follows:
- Dedication to their sport over time.
- Provide support, mentoring, and training of new and developing officials at the local and provincial levels.
- Dedication to self-improvement and excellence in their officiating program.
- Outstanding achievements attained over time.
- Be in good standing in the community.
Any member of the general public is free to submit nominations through the official nomination form. The Selection Committee will compile a list of qualified candidates received from the public nominations and present them to the BSHoF’s lifetime voting members, who will then vote by secret ballot.
The recipients are presented a Certificate of Recognition as a memento from the Barrie Sports Hall of Fame, and their name and year are added to a plate on the trophy.
